Sign-language Art

Sign-language art, as well as sign-language literature, is a body of artistic and literary works in sign language. Poetry, drama, storytelling and others are the forms of literature and art in sign language. As poetry conveys imagery and visual-oriented contents, sign-language is a natural fit.

As sign language is visual-temporal-spatial, a creative signer enjoys producing a narrative in four-dimensional space-time. Classifiers and other grammatical features are commonly practiced in sign-language art from poetry to narrative. ASL stories can offer an abundant insight into grammatical structure or syntax.
